Learn about Ripple Effects Mapping (REM), a tool to help capture your stories of impact. This session will be an introduction to REM, and will include a short demonstration of the process. You’ll then be able to learn about the benefits, core components, and resources about how to conduct your own Ripple Effects Mapping event. REM starts with storytelling in a group setting, which then leads to a mapping process. The group builds upon each other’s stories, while the facilitator maps the accomplishments, partnerships, and unique contributions identified by participants. This is an engaging, proven, and reliable process for gathering in-depth stories that help you understand program impacts, plan for the future with strategic planning, and show you how these outcomes have rippled out through your organization or community.

Presented by: Debra Hansen, M.Ed., is Emeritus Professor and a recent retiree from Washington State University, whose work focused on community and economic development in rural Stevens County. Debra was one of the original architects of Ripple Effects Mapping, developed in 2008 to discover poverty reduction outcomes in individual communities participating in a grant-funded program. She continues to Ripple Map and train others to use this engaging tool. Debra has a M.S. in Adult Education from Penn State.
