statement of commitment: diversity, equity, and inclusion

Rede Group is committed to anti-oppression, anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion as an ongoing process of self-interrogation, action, and critical reflection.

We attempt to address intersecting systems of oppression personally as individuals, internally as an organization, and externally, within our public health research and practices.

  • Practice diversity, collaboration, and mutualism as our core values.

  • Use our Equity Framework adapted from Centering Equity in Collective Impact by staff in 2023-24 to guide all aspects of our work (test, adapt, and research additional frameworks as needed)

  • Utilize Rede’s accessibility standards for all products, presentations, and meetings

  • Cultivate a diverse staff that is representative of the clients/communities we serve

  • Challenge white-supremacy culture by understanding its impact and devaluing its elements such as perfectionism, paternalism, individualism, right to comfort, and more that benefit those with the most power and harm those with the least

  • Gather input from staff at various levels of the organization in policy, procedure, and resource decisions

  • Examine our organizational structures, policies, and culture for impact on inequitable outcomes

  • Practice ethical and adaptive leadership by valuing relationships, learning, and transparency

  • Consider candidate knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience of inequities pervasive in our social systems during the recruitment and hiring process of staff and interns

  • Build skills in innovative community-specific data collection methods

  • Promote and resource staff development around anti-racism, diversity, equity, inclusion, and the systems, structures, policies, and culture that produce inequitable outcomes

We recognize our positionality, acknowledging that our firm is White-owned and majority White. We value the diversity of our team, which includes female, non-binary, LGBTQ+, neurodiverse, Asian, Black, Latina, and Spanish-speaking staff and management. While we engage in the work of equity and inclusion, we acknowledge this work is imperfect and can even do harm.
